As you are making a purchase decision, we suggest that you take the time to read some PSW505 Polk Subwoofer reviews in order to see what other consumers have to say about the product. Here are some user reviews to help you make your shopping decision:
Polk Audio is still making great speakers. I bought my first pair almost 30 years ago in 1978, had them for almost 25 years till I replaced them with smaller ones with a Velodyne sub. When my overpriced Velodyne sub went out on me last month, I decided to give Polk Audio a try since my first experience with Polk was so good. All I can say is that I'm glad I went with the 12" and for the approx $300 price tag, it sounds as good if not better than my high end $800 Velodyne sounded. For the extra $75 or so, get the 12" as opposed to the 10", you'll be glad you did.

I tried a couple of other subs before I finally broke down and bought this one. Not the least expensive one, but definately the loudest one I've owned! My listening area is 16' X 18' with a large opening into the Dining Room. This sub really hits hard and lets you feel the bass the way it is meant to be. I have it stationed behind my wifes chair, and the first time I had it on with her sitting in place she kept leaning forward and looking behind her chair to see what all the rumbling was. I just laughed when she asked me if I did something to the Surround System. Spend the extra dough, you won't be disappointed.

Was very iffy on this sub since I was going from a $1,000 Velodyne to this, but let me tell you I am not disapointed.Low tight bass with no distortion or rumble, sounds much better playing music than the Velodyne did, even though I use it mainly for movies. In my opinion you are getting a high end sounding subwoofer for $300, there is no way you can beat that!Tried to see how loud I could take it to see at what level it would start to distort, but could not get there because my windows were about to pop And my nose started to itch from the tremendous vibration, teeth rattled a little too! trust me I am not exagerating! BUY THIS SUB!!!!!

Now this is what a Sub should sound like. Very rich and deep. I have it connected via Monster Sub cable to LFE from my Denon AVR-2309CI. Audessey calibration is simply fantastic. This sub plays music very well. It picks up all the subtle nuances. Pandora Radio sounds just great with by B&W speakers and this Sub. It complements my system perfectly. HT is where it is at for me. This thing will ROCK your house. Explosions literally shake my walls and floor. It never misses a beat. This is why you want a 12" Sub. Polk does it again. Another fine product. By this before they are all gone as it is a discontinued item. Purchased this through Amazon via OneCall. Can not say enough good things about them. Shipment arrived on time and was double boxed. I was extremely pleased with the overall service and now enjoying this great Sub.

This sub has plenty of power. It is literally capable of rattling the walls. It has all the controls you would want. I replaced an old (non-Polk) sub that finally failed after several years and immediately noticed the difference from the old one. The old sub was decent but not as impacting as this one. Would recommend and the price was right.

I've had this sub for about a week now. Was delivered overnight (!) using a free trial of Amazon Prime. My home theater uses the Polk RM series (7 speakers), Denon AVR, and a Panny 110" projection system. Bluray from a PS3, HDDVD from the Toshiba HD-A35. Set up the system using the Digital Video Essentials disc, which has some great audio setups as well as video. Up til now I've been using a 10" sub and been mildly satisfied with the audio impact of both Bluray and HDDVD. With the 12" Polk, I now hear a HUGE difference between the DTS-HD lossless audio offered on most of my Bluray collection compared to the Dolby Digital Plus on many HDDVDs. I'm now going to convert my collection fully over to Bluray because of it! This sub is a great deal for the price; tight, punchy and very immersive!
